The only problem with store a purchased jar candle is that most aren't available in the color of your choice or the scent that you like and the candles have some weird looking embeds in it and your not sure what it is. For those who enjoy candlemaking or would like to start a new hobby jar candles are easy and fun to make.

Jar candle candlemaking can be in most types of waxes. Gel wax, softer paraffin waxes; bees wax and soy wax are all used in container candles. A candle will burn nicely in almost any style of container or molds, as long as it can with stand the hot wax when pouring and burning later, and the opening is at least 2-3 inches wide. Many containers or molds can be recycled household items, terra cotta pots, baby food jars, tins, canning jars, mugs, glassware and bowls. When choosing glassware choose items that are not chipped or cracked and not too thin to cause heat to break the glassware.

Gel wax is one of the most fun and easy to work with in candlemaking because if you don't like the end results just pull the gel out of the candle molds, remove embeds and re-melt the gel. Practice always makes perfect. Gel can be used in various ways, add glitter, pour gel fast and about 6 inches from the top of the glassware to make bubbles, make chunks or shapes in molds with different colored gel first and then add clear gel to allow chunks or shapes to melt into each other, add embeds for scenes or colored wax shaped embeds and suspend them in the gel. Gel candles allow you to be creative in your candlemaking projects, with many ideas and easy tips your sure to make something special.
