There are various types of candle making wax to use to make many types of candles. The candle wax you choose will also help you choose the style of candle you will be able to make. You could also choose the style of candles you would like to make which will then help you to choose the type of waxes you will need. You wouldn't be able to make a pillar candle or taper candle from gel wax and soy or bees wax are a healthier choice when burning.

The most common styles of candles are pillars, tapers, votives and tea lights. These styles of candles are usually made from bees wax, soy wax and paraffin wax. They are more solid waxes once the wax is set. There are various types of these waxes, which have different melting points for different types of candles. Most waxes are available from online wholesale companies and craft wholesale stores.

Gel wax is another form of wax that is a softer, transparent wax. Gel wax is used for mainly container candles and the occasional specialty candle. Gel wax once set can be rolled into shapes like roses or torn up to make it look like broken glass. Containers can be made into wonderful themes like the ocean or even a glass of crushed ice or layer different colors for special effects. This wax is also available at most online wholesale companies and craft wholesale stores.

Whether choosing gel as fun candle making project or soy and bees wax for healthier burning candles the type of wax you choose will make a great candle. Remember bees wax can be costly and soy wax is also natural but cheaper.
