A votive candle is an easier candle to make.

A votive candle is a small candle that stands approximately 2 inches high; 1-inch wide and usually comes in a variety of scents and colors. When purchasing votive candles from a candle company you are only able to get the scent of your choice in the color they have chosen to make it in. There is usually no choice of color. To solve this problem try candlemaking and make your own votive candles in the color and scent you need or want.

Votive candles are an easier candle to make. You can purchase votive candle molds from a craft store or candle supplies company online or you can find recycled molds from items at home; small yogurt containers, film containers, pill bottles, etc. The purchased molds should last a long time, when looked after and the recycled molds will need to be replaced after a short time.

Votives will burn 12-15 hours if burned in proper glassware. The votive should fit snug in the candle glassware to burn properly. The less air around the candle the longer the votives will burn in the glassware. Votives candle wax will burn up completely in the container and will extinguish itself with the metal clip at the bottom of the candle when made properly using the proper wax.

Try candlemaking your own votive candles especially when you need or want a color and scent that the candle companies don't have. Candlemaking is a lot of fun and easy.
