Gel candles allow you to be creative in your candlemaking projects.

Gel candles allow you to be creative in your candlemaking projects. You can embed nonflammable items into your gel wax candles, use chunks or shapes of wax, glitter, layer the colors or even make seascapes or other scenes. When getting more creative with your gel candles you will need more gel candlemaking supplies or kits.

Basic gel candlemaking supplies are glassware the candle will be burned in, gel wax, a pot to melt the gel in, color, scent, and wick. When first starting supply yourself with gel candle kits. These kits come with the basics to supply your project. When creative urges grow you will need to find or make your own embeds. Embeds can be any nonflammable item like glassfish, sand, shells, glass marbles and rocks. Embeds can also be made from paraffin wax shapes (fruit shapes) which can be made from chocolate molds, or purchased at candlemaking supply stores. There are many ways to create a gel candle, see how creative you can be.

Gel candle supplies can easily be found in your kitchen. Cookie sheets, chocolate molds, pots and pans, and glassware can easily be used and then cleaned with dish soap and hot water. Gel is easily peeled off of nonporous services once cool.

Be creative. You'd be surprised what gel candlemaking supplies and glassware you have in the kitchen that would make a unique and special gift. Start with kits if you don't have the basic supply list. Remember your glassware should be heat resistant, and have a large opening so glassware will not explode (2-3 inches wide) and any embeds used in the gel candle should be nonflammable and placed close to the outside edge.
