Soy wax is a natural wax.

Soy candles are made from soy wax, which is hydrogenated soybean oil. Soy wax is a cheaper alternative to beeswax. Soy wax is a natural wax and made from a renewable source much like beeswax. Unlike paraffin wax candles, soy candles will not increase the CO2 level in the atmosphere. Soy candles produce 90% less soot, which helps to maintain air quality. A soy candle will burn 50% longer than a paraffin wax candle and has cooler burning wax with faster scent dispersion.

Soy wax can be purchased on line and at many craft stores. It is much cheaper than a beeswax candle and a little more than paraffin wax candle. Soy wax comes in two forms block and flakes, flakes are usually easier to use. You will find that soy wax is easy to use because it is very easy to clean up, just use soap and water and the wax has a low melting point (cooler wax), unlike bees wax which can become extemely hot.

Making soy candles can be fun and rewarding. With a low melting point you can even enjoy this project with your children. Container soy wax candles are the easiest to make, just melt the wax add scent, color and pour melted soy wax into a container with a wick. Let wax get solid and enjoy. It's just that easy! Bees wax comes in many forms, sometimes too many to decide from.
