Beeswax candles have a long and luxurious history.

The bees wax candle has a long and luxurious history dating back three thousand years to ancient Egypt. Bees wax candles were found only in a few places. It seems that only the rich or successful people would have the luxury of pure bee wax candles.

Pure beeswax is a natural product made by worker bees that convert honey into wax creating honeycomb patterned combs which form the foundation of the beehive. You can melt pure beeswax, paint with it, model it or dye it. Beeswax is available at wholesale stores in various colors, sizes and weights and is formed into chips, solid blocks or preformed sheets for your candle. The preformed wax sheets come in sheets that measure 12 x 8 inches and come in natural shades and about 30 other colors. Chips and blocks come in natural colors and non-toxic dyes can be added to create more colors for your candle.

Bee wax can be purchased on line or at many craft wholesale stores. You could also purchase beeswax from a local bee keeper. (Not recommended unless you know how the wax should look-filtered from impurities etc.) There are many different styles that beeswax can be purchased at wholesale which allows you to use many candlemaking techniques. These candlemaking techniques range from molding, dipping, hand-modeled, and using the beeswax preformed sheets to make any style or shape you like by cutting and rolling. There is a great candlemaking variety when using beeswax for a candle.
