Scented jar candles can be made easily from almost any type of jar. A scented jar candle can have scented wax or scented gel in them to give you two different looks.
Baby food jars, canning jars and jars from pasta sauce or even jam or jelly can be used. Jars are not the only type of container candles that you can make. Try using some household everyday items. Terra cotta pots, champagne flutes, martini, wine, brandy, and margarita glasses, teacups and coffee mugs, candy and small coffee tins, sea shells and fish bowls. The list can go on.
Just make sure the following apply when choosing a proper container for candles. The jar (container) will withstand the pouring temperature of the wax or gel. The jar (container) is stable and steady. Best results come from jars (containers) that aren’t too narrow, which can cause the sides to blacken and too shallow a gel candle should never be burned once the flame is ½” from the bottom of the container. Most wax will melt down cleanly if in a proper container. The mouth opening should be a least 2” to 3” wide. Clean your jar (container) with dish soap and water and be sure it is completely dried before starting your scented jar candle.
Applying a scent to a scented candle is done in the melting process before the gel or wax is added to your jar (container). There are many scents to choose from for these jar candles. Take into consideration where you want the jar or container to be placed and is the scent appropriate for that place. There are many household scents like apple pie or chocolate chip cookies to fruit scents and flower scents and even the sky and ocean.
A jar candle can be placed in pretty much any room to give it that special look and feel. When chosen properly these candles can be made to be one of a kind and given as special gifts for a friend, family and even for your self.
